Fukushima radiation confirmed on US coast

Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution scientists reported that cesium-134 released by Japan’s Fukushima nuclear disaster in 2011 was detected in water samples from Oregon’s coast, the first time the compound has been detected in the US. University of Victoria researchers also found cesium-134 in Canadian salmon, but the detected levels aren’t high enough to damage the environment or humans, according to officials.Statesman-Journal (Salem, Ore.)
