LSU’s tiger mascot succumbs to cancer

Mike VI, the tiger mascot for Louisiana State University, was humanely euthanized Tuesday after being moved to hospice care Monday. Mike was ill with cancer, and after veterinarians determined the disease was progressing, they worked to ensure his comfort, and the tiger spent much of his last week enjoying his outdoor habitat. The Advertiser (Lafayette, La.) I hope that they decline to get another live tiger. WSU quit getting cougars after Butch died shortly after I graduated. I was very glad. Even though he had a large enclosure, getting “used” by being paraded at the football games was not cool.
