Service dogs trained to detect bacterial infections

The nonprofit Assistance Dogs of Hawaii already trains dogs to help people with physical and neurological disorders, and now the group is also training dogs to detect bacterial infections. Initial findings, which are under consideration for publication in a medical journal, showed dogs are able to detect E. coli in urine samples. American City Business Journals/Honolulu (9/2)
