Study: Common microbe could help fight white-nose syndrome in bats

Candida albicans, a common microbe that can be found in caves, may hold the key to stopping the spread of deadly white-nose syndrome, which has decimated bats in the U.S. for several years. A compound that’s produced by the microbe called tt-farnesol can hinder the fungus behind white-nose syndrome, according to findings published in Mycopathologia. Discovery (7/22)
