Classical music calms cats during surgery

Female cats exposed to three different types of music while under anesthesia to be spayed were found to be most relaxed during periods of classical music, according to research published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery. Barber’s “Adagio for Strings (Opus 11),” Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” and AC/DC’s “Thunderstruck” were played for each of 12 cats during surgery, and pupil size and respiratory rate were measured.
