How traveling animals fared on U.S. airlines last year

What is missing from this is how many animals total are we talking about – what percentage with problems..

The Transportation Department has released data on animal accidents and deaths associated with air travel. In 2014, there were five animal deaths and 13 animal injuries reported by United Airlines, the most of any carrier, followed by Alaska Airlines’ three deaths and 11 injuries. Injuries most often occurred when animals attempted to escape their crates, while deaths commonly involved escaped animals that were hit by vehicles. In some cases, travel stress exacerbated existing health conditions.
