Portland OR water situation

Oregon public health veterinarian Emilio DeBess says contaminated water in Portland, Ore., isn’t a threat to pets, not even those that are ill or have compromised immune systems. “Pets have such a big and ongoing exposure to fecal pathogens that they have the ability to fight them off,” Dr. DeBess said. “It is not recommended that anyone boil water for their pets.” Three tests of Portland’s water supply were positive for coliform bacteria and E. coli, suggesting fecal contamination of the water supply occurred.
