UK Pet’s waistline expanding

Nearly half of dogs in the U.K. are obese or overweight, while 40% of cats are tipping the scales and even some rabbits, guinea pigs and birds are too plump, according to the Pet Food Manufacturers Association. Feeding pets leftovers and other human food is partly to blame, according to the report. “This is primarily a problem of human behavior and a mismatch between the amount of food and the amount of exercise. All pets should be fed a nutritionally balanced diet and kept to their normal body weight,” said veterinarian and British Veterinary Association President Robin Hargreaves.
