Mudslide Animal Victims Care

The mudslide that devastated communities in Snohomish County, Wash., last month has isolated many because it closed an important road, blocking access to supplies including animal feed. Members of the Darrington Horse Owners Association initiated efforts to help animals and owners in need, and the Darrington Rodeo Grounds have become a shelter for displaced animals. Food donations have been made by Purina, Nutrena and many others. “The humanity of this whole thing has just been staggering,” said Rick Karns, a board member with the horse owners group.
